The question of the day is so much fun to use in the classroom. It is a great way to build community and connect with your students. It also helps children listen to their peers and get to know you better as you answer the question each day also.
Answering the question of the day helps children speak in a whole group setting. It is also gives opportunities for growth for children with speech and language goals. You can expand on the question and share their experiences.
Also, the question of the day reinforces the specific skills children learn throughout the year. They have a chance to practice counting, patterns, graphing, name recognition the entire year.

They are also designed to bring laughter, joy and to even to be a little silly with questions such as
Can You Gobble Like a Turkey?
Would you like to jump in a pile of leaves?
Would you put a snowball in your pocket?
which can be used with The Snowy Day by Ezra Keats.

The Seasonal Year Long Question of the Day can be laminated ahead of time so you are ready for the year. You will prepare the question ahead of time each morning. If you are lucky to have student teaches when they are observing this is a great way to help them jump right in to morning preparation tasks.
How to Use Question of the Day?
I like to use fun notepads based on my classroom theme. They have such fun ones like owls, dinosaurs, robots, or seasonal ones like Fall apples here. I typically change them two times a year.
Add children’s name on them and use a pocket chart, magnetic board or felt board to design your station. Attach magnets or Velcro to the back of the laminated name cards. Add question, the yes, no, patterns, colors, or numbers relating to the question on the board.
Children love to come up and place their name card under the question, tell stories and of course GOBBLE like a TURKEY!
